Golf Channel’s Black Employee Network | 2020 Black History Month Event with OMYGA
Situation
Golf Channel’s Black Employee Network (BEN) partnered with the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association (OMYGA) for an “I Have a Dream Job” panel discussion for 2020’s Black History Month.
Tasks & Actions
The client wanted a mixture of candid and posed high-quality photographs to be taken at the event (approximately 150-200 photographs) of the kids, T.J. Dorsey, DDS, Founder of the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association (OMYGA), Parents, and the executive team at the Golf Channel.
We used two cameras – a Nikon D7200 with a Nikkor 24-85 4.0 DX lens for wide shots and a Sony A7RIII with a 70 – 200 2.8 Sony G-Master lens for close-ups shots and depth of field. Adobe Lightroom allowed us to color correct and mass edit to turn the photos around in one day.
Results
Ultimately, we delivered approximately 100 professionally edited photos to the client. Approximately 60 kids received inspirational insight from Damon Hack (Morning Drive host), Matt Adams (GOLF talent), Mike McCarley, and some GolfNow, a division of Golf Channel employees – Jeremy Trask, Kimberly Bond, and Gerald Harvey. Dr. Dorsey and the OMYGA’s leaders and parents attended as well. Hopefully, this discussion encouraged attendees to pursue Golf as an industry career or PGA professional.
